Part of the reason new Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has made it this far is because of the confidence he has in himself, and he showed that in spades after being taken with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

After the Lions traded up to get him, Arnold met with the media and made it abundantly clear he isn't timid. In fact, he called himself a shutdown corner and said he's ready to face off against opposing teams' top wide receivers from the get-go.

"I'm a shutdown corner," Arnold said, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com. "I'm coming in to go at receiver ones at the rip. I feel like I was already coming in with a chip on my shoulder just based on the draft and how everything was going.

"Brad traded up to get me and that means a lot to me," he added. "So, I'm going to go out there and show why he did it."

Lions passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach Deshea Townsend managed expectations a bit, saying the Alabama product "brings competition to our room."

"He's got a challenge mindset," general manager Brad Holmes said of Arnold. "He's got a challenge mentality. He's got the physicality. He's gritty and he's still developing."

And he's got a ton of confidence, too, which is a great thing for a young player.
