As if we needed more proof that Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is one of the toughest runners in the NFL, he sure as hell provided it during the Week 4 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Montgomery played a big role in the 42-29 victory, with the running back tallying 40 yards on the ground and one score, while also adding 40 yards through the air.
All 40 of those receiving yards came on one play. Quarterback Jared Goff dumped the ball off to Montgomery near the line of scrimmage in the third quarter and the Lions back proceeded to break multiple tackles on his way to the huge gain. That description doesn't even do it justice, though. Take a look for yourself.

I mean, there are just no words for what we just witnessed. Montgomery literally bulldozes the first guy he sees and then manages to split two defenders — one of whom grabs a hold of his leg to no avail — and then he shakes off another player who hits him from behind to keep going. Just incredible.
Montgomery wasn't the only Lions running back to have a big night. Jahmyr Gibbs totaled 78 rushing yards on 14 carries and scored twice. In all, Detroit had 116 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Detroit had kind of gone away from the run game a bit over the first two games, but offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has been firing up Montgomery and Gibbs more over the past two weeks, and no surprise the Lions' offense has played better, including in a season-best performance in Week 4.
After the Lions finally exercised their demons with the Seahawks, who had beaten them six times in a row and nine out of 10 going into Monday night's matchup, Detroit will have a week off to rest up before a Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
