When Detroit Lions fans descend upon Campus Martius Park for Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft, they need to be ready for just about anything, including a trade back out of the first round entirely.

General manager Brad Holmes has already stated a trade back is a possibility and has even asked fans for their forgiveness if they attend the draft and don't get to see a pick on the first night.

"We have to do the right thing for the organization," Holmes said. "If it makes sense and it lines up and it's the right thing to do, then we have to do the right thing. Hopefully, our fans will forgive us. We won't expect immediate forgiveness right then and there, but hopefully when the season starts."

On Wednesday morning, Lions head coach Dan Campbell echoed the idea of a trade back being a possibility, stating that the team would do just that if the prospect they want isn't there.

"It's one sleep and then you get two picks," Campbell said during an appearance on Costa & Jansen with Heather on 97.1 The Ticket. "If our guy's not there, we will move back, so I'm just preparing the fans. Be ready. You never know what's gonna happen here."

The possibilities are truly endless for the Lions.

On top of trading back or sticking and picking, the Lions have an impressive enough roster that they can afford to give up a pick or two in an attempt to trade up higher into the first round if there's a prospect they truly covet.
