Now that we have reached the middle of June and minicamps are behind us, you can smell football right around the corner. It won't be long.

Teams currently have their 90-man rosters filled up but tweaks and adjustments can always be made if a player goes down to injury in training camp or if a player is just not performing to the expectations of the coaching staff.

Veteran players often wait until one of these situations pops up to get back in the league, usually on short, one-year deals. These former Denver Broncos players are waiting for that scenario to happen and if it doesn't, their playing careers could certainly be over.

Former Denver Broncos still looking for a job in the NFL

Justin Simmons, Safety

It's still unfortunate that the Broncos had to release Justin Simmons in a cost-cutting move this offseason, but no one thinks he's done in the NFL. He's also not still available due to any questions over whether he still has talent.

Instead, Simmons is likely looking for the perfect situation where he can be paid what he is worth while also having a shot to win a Super Bowl. Since he never even made the playoffs in Denver, that is a reasonable expectation.

Mike Purcell, Defensive Lineman

Though the Broncos remain fairly thin on the defensive line, it was apparently part of the plan to move on from the veteran Mike Purcell and look for an upgrade.

Purcell spent the last five seasons with the Broncos and was one of the team's best defenders against the run in that time. Instead, the team will turn to free agents Malcolm Roach and Angelo Blackson in hopes of getting better overall results.

K'Waun Williams, Cornerback

K'Waun Williams' time in Denver started off promising but he missed the entire 2023 season due to injury and will turn 33 years old next month. There won't be a big market for his services if there is one at all.

Fabian Moreau, Cornerback

The Broncos signed the veteran Moreau last August as it was becoming evident the team needed added depth. When Damarri Mathis struggled in his second year in the league, Moreau was plugged into his spot and he played much better.

But the Broncos want to try and get more from their young players like Mathis and Riley Moss this year and signed Levi Wallace, another veteran, for added insurance.

Cam Fleming, Offensive Tackle

Cam Fleming is not excellent at anything, but he's sufficient at everything. In other words, he was a great option as a rotational swing tackle. But the team chose to go in a different direction this offseason, opting to sign Matt Peart, a much younger option, for that role.

Ben DiNucci, Quarterback

After trading for Zach Wilson, DiNucci became expendable and the Broncos cut him loose, likely as a benefit to him as he could then have a chance to catch on with a different team or, at the very least, go back to the UFL. He was signed out of the XFL by the Broncos.
