The Denver Broncos know they have a good thing in quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. Head coach Sean Payton was thrilled to get him on the staff last season. He is being tasked with helping the three quarterbacks currently on the roster be ready for the 2024 season.

But last season, one team tried to get him back in pads, which was revealed by Payton during this week's appearance on the "Up and Adams" show with Kay Adams.

"Davis Webb's doing a great job. It's unusual that you get a quarterback coach that literally just finished playing and then even last season, gets an email from a team about possibly playing still and he's coaching that room so you do have a little bit of a caddie there and a real smart up-and-coming coach who's working with those guys".

It's unknown which team checked in on the availability of Webb but with all of the injuries that teams around the league dealt with at the quarterback position last year, it could have been several possibilities. Evidently, Webb is happy with what he's doing.

Davis Webb will become a hot commodity if Bo Nix finds early success

Webb was a third-round pick in 2017 and was a career backup quarterback, but his intelligence and understanding of the position are things many teams noticed. He's still only 29 years old but he could quickly enter the conversation of future head coaches if Bo Nix is what the Broncos think he is.

Payton will undoubtedly get a lot of credit for that, but Webb is in there as well and teams will start to circle his name for offensive coordinator positions if the Broncos turn things around this year.

Young coaching candidates, particularly offensive-minded ones, are something many teams in today's NFL covet.

There are currently five head coaches in the league under the age of 40. Webb's playing days seem to be over, but he could soon find himself on a short list of future candidates.
