Former Denver Broncos safety Caden Sterns had a very short stay with the Carolina Panthers.

After claiming Sterns on waivers, the Panthers have now waived him as well with a failed physical designation. Though he passed the physical given to him by the Broncos, the one done in Carolina looked at different things and he wasn't able to meet their standards.

This puts Sterns back on the waiver wire where he can be claimed by another team.

Caden Sterns' future health could be a problem for teams

Though it was surprising when the Broncos released Sterns earlier this week, the immediate thought was that there could be concerns about how he has healed from the torn patellar tendon that cost him nearly all of the 2023 season. This seems to be a great possibility as he has now failed a physical with another team.

The Broncos are also thin at safety with Brandon Jones missing most of training camp to this point with a hamstring injury. The fact that the Broncos chose to move on from Sterns right now is telling.

It could also have meant that the team wanted him to have as much time to sign with another team as he could, essentially doing right by the player. After a few setbacks in one week, hopefully, Sterns can catch on with a new team and be able to contribute in 2024.
