The Denver Broncos have opened their fourth day of training camp reports have stated that safety Brandon Jones is not practicing with the team after tweaking his hamstring on Friday.
Jones is present at practice but took the field without a helmet, signaling he would be taking the day off. It's a setback for the free agent who signed with the Broncos this offseason, but hopefully a small one.
Brandon Jones not practicing today (hamstring). He just sauntered onto practice field to observe. Will miss a few days but doesn’t appear to be overly serious. #9sports

The Broncos are thin at the safety position after releasing Justin Simmons during the offseason. Caden Sterns and Delarrin Turner-Yell both started camp on the PUP list.
Could Broncos reach out to Justin Simmons?
The longer Jones sits out, the louder the chatter will get for the Broncos to contact their former safety and try to negotiate a new deal. However, Simmons may have no interest in playing for the Broncos at this point.
Simmons seems to be waiting for the right deal, exhibiting patience throughout the offseason. There has certainly been interest around the league in him, but he wants the right combination of pay and a chance to win. That is going to limit the teams he signs with to a small handful.
But if Jones is going to miss any considerable amount of time, the Broncos are going to have to look outside the organization for answers. Luckily, it seems they have dodged that bullet.
