The Denver Broncos are a team looking to develop an identity on offense, and that starts with Bo Nix. Head coach Sean Payton is still looking for the best pieces to build around him.

While the team should not rule out all trades ahead of this year's November 5 trade deadline, the ideas proposed by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report should be avoided. Talking trades is always fun, but it doesn't always make sense. In these two cases, it doesn't.

In a recent article talking about players who could potentially be dealt ahead of the trade deadline, Knox mentions both Amari Cooper and Treylon Burks in connection to the Broncos.

Starting with Burks, while he had a ton of potential coming out of college, he has been both unproductive and unavailable in his young career. While a change of scenery could certainly help, he's not a good fit for a team looking to establish itself under a rookie passer.

Cooper is among the best wide receivers in the league, but any team who were to trade for him this season should be prepared to make a deep playoff run. There is no indication that the Broncos should be all in on this season and with Cooper an unrestricted free agent at season's end (and one who will command a salary north of $20 million annually next offseason), it would make zero sense for the Broncos to acquire him, particularly because he likely would not come cheap.

Broncos need to stand pat at WR, or look for smaller moves

The Broncos have a talented young corps of wide receivers that just need more time with Nix in order to build chemistry. Adding players like those mentioned above, particularly at a cost, would be counter-productive.

Instead, the team needs to stick with the players it has and see how many of them should be part of the future with Nix. He looked much better throwing the ball in Week 3 against Tampa Bay and if the team can build upon that performance, things could look terrific by the end of the season.

While a trade for a depth piece or lesser-valued wide receiver should be considered before the trade deadline in about six weeks, the trade ideas put forth by Bleacher Report should be considered a hard pass.
