The Denver Broncos could have a problem at the safety position, even if Brandon Jones escaped a major injury. According to Broncos insider Mike Klis, Jones will miss at least the next two weeks after tweaking his hamstring in practice.

The Broncos are starting to have a pretty noticeable hole at safety. With Caden Sterns and Delarrin Turner-Yell starting camp on the PUP list, the team is going to need to consider reinforcements if players can't take the field soon.

Of course, that all leads back to the decision to release Justin Simmons earlier this offseason. Simmons has yet to find a new team but he may not have any interest in returning to Denver. It certainly needs to be explored, at the very least.

Brandon Jones may not be ready until the preseason

If Jones only missed two weeks, he would return to the field right about the time the Broncos open their preseason slate against the Indianapolis Colts on August 11. Though he is a veteran of four NFL seasons, this is his first in Denver and missing time is going to slow him down as he tries to acclimate to his new team.

Many may try to downplay this, but all Broncos fans need to do to see how detrimental a nagging hamstring injury can be is to look over at tight end Greg Dulcich.

The Broncos have P.J. Locke and JL Skinner as well as undrafted free agent Omar Brown, but they are certainly going to need much more than that when the season starts.
