The Denver Broncos have the roster they are going to head into training camp with, at least for the most part. Though there are still several weeks before camp opens and a minicamp to get through this coming week, most of the major moves with this roster have been made.

But this will certainly be a new-look Broncos team this season. Sean Payton is going to be looking for the right mix of players to help turn things around for a franchise that has been down for far too long.

Looking at each position on the roster, these three players may need to fend another player off this summer to hold onto their starting job.

D.J. Jones, Defensive tackle

The Broncos chose not to cut D.J. Jones this offseason, a surprise to many as it was a move that would have saved the team about $9 million against the cap. It was also a surprise as Jones hasn't exactly been great in Denver. However, he is still part of the roster and should be one of the starters along the defensive line along with Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers.

But his grip on that jab is likely a bit loose. Malcolm Roach and Angelo Blackson, two players the Broncos signed in free agency, could push him for more playing time.

Riley Dixon, Punter

Riley Dixon's job as the team's punter is not safe at all. If it was, the Broncos wouldn't have signed Trenton Gill last month.

Gill is far from the proverbial "camp leg" and some consider him the favorite to win the job. One thing is for sure, Dixon is going to have to prove he still belongs, which means he will have to kick better than he did last season.

Javonte Williams, Running back

Most NFL backfields are now considered to be a "committee" approach at the running back position, but Javonte Williams is still considered to be the Broncos' No. 1 running back. But for how long?

Members of the Denver media recently talked about how Williams has looked at OTAs and the thought that perhaps he has "lost his passion" for the game. That might be a bit much, but he still needs to show something much more than he did last season to still be the main guy in the backfield.

When you throw in the fact that the Broncos drafted an impressive looking Audric Estime in the fifth round of the draft, it's not hard to see that there is a real possibility that Williams will see less touches in 2024.
