Denver Broncos position preview: TE depth chart ahead of training camp image

The Denver Broncos were able to get just 39 receptions from their tight end position last season. In other words, that's about one-third of a Travis Kelce.

Heading into the offseason, tight end was arguably the team's worst position. But it wasn't a good time to have that weakness as both the free agency market and the NFL draft were light on good options.

Heading into the 2024 season, the Broncos have a hole at this position, but could the team get a pleasant surprise or two in camp before the season starts?

Here is how the tight end depth chart shakes out heading into camp.

Denver Broncos tight end depth chart ahead of training camp

1. Adam Trautman

Adam Trautman likely wouldn't even be on this team if the Broncos had better options behind him, but the team was forced to re-sign him due to his experience in Sean Payton's offense. It would be nice to see one of the guys below him leap him on the depth chart early this summer.

2. Greg Dulcich

This entry should have an asterisk next to it as Greg Dulcich is the most talented tight end on the roster but he's been hurt and unavailable more than he's been healthy and available.

That has to change this year or Dulcich's time in Denver could easily come to an end.

3. Lucas Krull

Lucas Krull is the most intriguing tight end on this roster and one the coaching staff seems to believe in. He will be one to watch in practices and preseason games this summer.

4. Nate Adkins

Nate Adkins made the team as an undrafted free agent last season but that may be even more difficult for him to do this year. His roster status likely depends on the health of Dulcich.

If Trautman and Krull make the team and they only keep three on the active roster, Adkins will likely be left off unless Dulcich can't go or the team decides to go with four tight ends.

5. Thomas Yassmin

One of two undrafted tight ends the Broncos signed this offseason (Dylan Leonard was already released), Thomas Yassmin could be a wild card at some point down the line but he is more of a practice squad candidate this season.
