Denver Broncos' former third-round pick facing make-or-break season in 2024

The Denver Broncos have one of the weakest tight end rooms in the NFL, even diehard fans won't argue that. But the team has two players who could flip the position into a strength for the team.

This offseason, talk has trickled in of Lucas Krull being a guy who could take off with this team. He has barely gotten his feet wet in the NFL, but Sean Payton likes him. But the team needs more than Krull and veteran Adam Trautman if the tight end position is going to be productive, and that means Greg Dulcich giving the team something.

A third-round pick in 2022, Dulcich is a player loaded with untapped potential, but it's untapped because he can't stay healthy.

Greg Dulcich can't afford another letdown with Denver Broncos

The NFL is a performance-based business and that is why the saying "the best ability is availability" is so true. For Dulcich, he has suited up for just 12 of a potential 34 games for the team. When a player earns the "injury-prone" label, it is a tough thing to shake.

But Dulcich must find a way to do that.

It has been a troublesome hamstring that has forced Dulcich to spend two-thirds of his career on the sidelines but if that hamstring flares up again this summer or during the season, and Dulcich misses an extended period of time, the Broncos are going to have to seriously consider moving on from the promising prospect.

But as the Broncos held minicamp recently, he was still not participating.

When he has been on the field, he has averaged 12.1 yards per catch and he has shown himself to be a tight end who can stretch the field, something offenses in today's NFL covet. However, that injury status has put him on thin ice.

One of the biggest potential boosts the Broncos could get before the 2024 season kicks off would be having Dulcich healthy and being the player many feel he can be.
