The Denver Broncos have been expected to select a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft but just days before the selection process kicks off, the team has acquired one through trade.

The Broncos have agreed to trade for New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. The deal includes a late-round pick swap between the teams.

While Broncos fans have been wondering when the team would add more depth to the quarterback room since free agency started, this is probably not what most had in mind. Wilson joins Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci on the depth chart.

Wilson, once selected with the No.2 overall pick in the 2021 draft just behind Trevor Lawrence, quickly fell out of favor in New York.

Zach Wilson traded to the Broncos

For his career, Wilson has completed just 57 percent of his passes while throwing for 6,293 with 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. His career win-loss record sits at 12-21.

Coming into the 2021 draft, his stock rose greatly after his pro day showing and there were some analysts arguing that he could go No.1 overall ahead of Lawrence who was considered to be one of the biggest "sure things" the league had seen in quite some time.

But in New York, Wilson never saw much success and was quickly deemed a "bust" by the fanbase. In Denver, he will get a chance to work under Sean Payton and see if there is a chance to resurrect his career.

This move makes the draft a bit more interesting in terms of how the Broncos see the quarterback position. What will the team do with its first-round pick (No. 12 overall) after trading for Wilson?
