Trey Lance is doing everything he can to prove he's still a viable quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys. On Saturday, his first preseason interception showed he still needs a lot of work to get there.
The Cowboys were marching on a drive in the second quarter that had gone 41 yards on six plays. Lance had looked decisive for the most part and was playing at an efficient clip.
Then, on third-and-three, Lance attempted to hit Jalen Moreno-Cropper on an out route to the right. Unfortunately, the location of the throw was not where it needed to be, leading to a nice interception by an undercutting Tony Jefferson.

This interception showcases the biggest weakness to Lance's game: Location, location, location.
He should have thrown that ball well to the sideline, on the other side of the receiver. Instead, he created this turnover opportunity.
Far too often, Lance throws it where receivers have to adjust to the ball, rather than leading them to it. He also has repeatedly made throws that were so poor they missed his targets by yards.
The concerning thing is that accuracy and location aren't necessarily things you can learn. Sometimes, a guy just doesn't have it. It remains to be seen if that applies to Lance.
