Is Tony Romo the greatest quarterback in Dallas Cowboys history?

Over the course of a few articles I will be diving into the greatest few quarterbacks in franchise history for the Dallas Cowboys and make the case for each of them to be at the top of list. For this portion we will be taking a look at perhaps the most undersung of the group when it comes to his greatness, Tony Romo.

When talking about who is the best to ever do it in Dallas, it's odd the Romo's name doesn't appear more given that he is the teams all team leader in both passing yards and touchdown passes. The main argument of course being that he never took the team to the promised land like Aikman and Staubach. What Romo did do is bring the Cowboys out of a brutal era of quarterback play after a long drought post Aikman and become one of the most consistent passers in the entire league.

While it is fair to say he fell short in the big moments, it's also fair to say that Dallas would have not even gotten to those moments without the outstanding play of their then franchise quarterback. During his time with the Cowboys in a decade long span as a starter, he only posted a losing record once in 2010 when he was clearly not healthy.

Approaching the twilight of his career, Romo got better and better, and if not for unfortunate injuries, could have cemented his name even further into the Dallas record books. In his final two healthy season with the team Romo put together a whopping 65 touchdowns, to just 19 interceptions, and lead the team to a  20-10 record over that span.

Without question Romo was the most efficient quarterback to have played for the team, and stands to be one of the best quarterbacks of his era. Was he the best in franchise history? You could certainly make that argument.
