There is no money in the NFL like quarterback money. Players at various levels of skill and efficiency get paid to play the position, some more deserving than others. Regardless, it happens.
The Dallas Cowboys are facing an uphill battle with their quarterback. Years of debate and back-and-forth are culminating in a standoff over a contract extension for Dak Prescott. The highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL are Jordan Love, Joe Burrow, and Trevor Lawrence who make an average of $55 million.
Prescott is expected to make around $60 million when he signs his new deal. One Dallas Cowboy legend doesn’t see it happening for a team that wears a star on its helmet, though.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Troy Aikman gave a gloomy forecast for Cowboys fans.
"Dak Prescott is a great leader…I believe that he's gonna be the first QB to $60M and the longer this goes the more I think he'll be playing elsewhere…the Cowboys haven't played their best football when they need to and that's on the entire organization."
Aikman was blunt but honest. There has been no indication that the Cowboys are willing to pay that much for their quarterback. Jerry Jones has backed himself into a corner, only he can get himself out of it.
