The NFL and its drug testing policy have led to a laugh or two following a critical moment on the field. Hardly ever does it follow a positive event off the field, but on Monday, we were granted a moment to laugh at the NFL in an enjoyable way.
The Dallas Cowboys have had some luck finding dominant defensive players named DeMarcus. In the 2005 NFL Draft, they drafted Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware out of Troy, and in 2014, they drafted DeMarcus Lawrence out of Boise State. Of course, one is still playing for the team. The other is retired and forever enshrined in Canton.
So, which one got the NFL drug test request? That would be the retired player.
DeMarcus Ware shared on social media on Monday that he received a text from someone with the NFL’s drug testing group. Ware had some fun with it and teased that “94+90+11 sounds like a pass rush team to me.” Ware then proceeded to grab his pads and run off camera.
The 2024 Dallas Cowboys have some problems to figure out, pass rush, thankfully isn’t one of them. If they ever needed a Hall of Famer to come out of retirement, perhaps it could be Troy Aikman or Michael Irvin, depending on who they decide not to extend between Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.
