Dallas Cowboys fans have to be positively giddy after watching Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and the rest of their team dismantle the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.
After all, there wasn't any guarantee that Lamb was even going to be available. He held out all of training camp without a contract extension.
He also recently told Kay Adams of Up & Adams he would have held out during the season without one.
Additionally, until just hours before Sunday's game, Prescott wasn't signed to a long-term contract and was set to play a lame-duck season in Dallas.
Then a whirlwind of activity in Dallas' front office turned frowns upside-down. Both Lamb and Prescott inked record-breaking contract extensions with the Cowboys. And both were key players in Sunday's regular-season opener in Cleveland.
Speaking on all this, Lamb recently told CBS Sports that Prescott's record-breaking contract is propelling the Cowboys "to new heights."
“We were already flying in with the . . . I want to say ‘intent,’ that he was gonna be our quarterback and that the deal was gonna get done,” Lamb said, via CBSSports.com. “But that kinda just propelled us to new heights, if you will. Shoutout Dak, he’s definitely deserved of the contract. Just able to put all that behind us and actually go play ball.”
One thing is certain about all this: Given the amount of money that's been committed by Dallas to both of these two stars, they better propel the team to new heights. Because if it's just the same old, same old status quo that's seen the Cowboys fail in their endeavor to win a championship, fans will revolt.
