Can Dak Prescott keep Dallas Cowboys from sinking in 2024?

If you trust how some NFL analysts view the Dallas Cowboys' offense in 2024, this is a disconcerting time for you. Despite featuring two of the league's top superstars in Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, this offense could struggle.

Discussing this topic for The Ringer, longtime NFL analyst Sheil Kapadia ranked the Cowboys No. 12 in the league. He highlighted "some regression factors that are working against the Cowboys."

"They had the fifth-best injury luck of any offense last season and the eighth-best turnover luck when we look at EPA lost to giveaways. From a personnel standpoint, the Cowboys lost a couple of offensive linemen in free agency and are counting on rookies to replace them. The run game looks uninspiring. And aside from wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (who is incredible), the pass-catching group is unimpressive."

Granted, Kapadia did qualify his remarks with the following: "The Cowboys represent a battle between the analytical part of my brain and the general vibes of an underwhelming, nonsensical offseason."

That being said, this is a not-insignificant ranking.

Remember, Dallas finished the 2023 season ranked fifth in total offense. Prescott had the team's passing game humming during his MVP-caliber season, averaging 259 passing yards per game (third in the league).

Looking ahead, however, it is clear that this season's Cowboys will have to rely more and more on the duo of Prescott and Lamb.

As noted by Kapadia, the run game does look "uninspiring." Dallas' lead back right now is a husk of his former self, and it wouldn't be surprising whatsoever if Ezekiel Elliott doesn't return in 2025

This means that, more and more, the offensive production for this team is going to rest on the shoulders of Prescott. If he does manage to lead the Cowboys to the promised land this season, it will be one heck of a legendary campaign.
