Since San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade, every NFL team took notice and evaluated its chances of trading for the 26-year-old star.
The Cleveland Browns are no exception especially since they have a contract situation with 30-year-old wide receiver Amari Cooper. Aiyuk and Cooper, unrestricted free agents in 2025, seek contract extensions at their perceived market values before the 2024 season begins.
This leads many to wonder if the Browns would call the 49ers and offer to swap Cooper for Aiyuk. The Browns do not have a lot of early-round draft picks to offer because of the Deshaun Watson signing in 2022.
Dustin Hopkins got paid. How about Amari Cooper? #DawgPound

GM Andrew Berry is thorough so it is plausible he would conduct due diligence on Aiyuk. Reports indicate Cooper wants to stay in Cleveland, and he and the Browns are negotiating. This means a deal between the Browns and 49ers is unlikely but should not be considered impossible.
