Never say never. The Kansas City Chiefs, after releasing running back Kareem Hunt in 2018, said that was the end of the road for the embattled running back with the team that drafted him.
After a five-year stint with the Cleveland Browns, which fans hoped would extend into 2024, the Chiefs have signed Hunt to the practice squad.
Chiefs' RB1 Isiah Pacheco will be out with a broken fibula which opened the door for the free agent Hunt to reunite with his former team.
Hunt, 30, was a Pro Bowler and the NFL rushing leader in his 2017 rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He reunites with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid as well as the rest of the defending Super Bowl Championship team.
Hunt's off-the-field issues are in his past, and he gets an opportunity at redemption in Kansas City. Meanwhile, Browns fans are happy for the fan-favorite Hunt but wanted him back on the team this year in the wake of Nick Chubb and Nyheim Hines' PUP declarations.
