The Cleveland Browns have named their starting quarterback for Saturday's second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings. Dorian Thompson-Robinson, better known as DTR, will start the game. He will be relieved by Tyler Huntley. DTR, 24, played in the first preseason game in relief of starter Jameis Winston. Aside from Deshaun Watson, DTR was the only Browns quarterback on the team's roster last year.
The Browns have also announced that no starters will play in this game. After a spirited week of joint practices where the Browns' defense created so much distress for Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell that he confronted Browns DC Jim Schwartz about it, the game could be more relaxed.
Deshaun Watson is expected to play in the third and final preseason game next Saturday, August 24, in Seattle. Fans eager to see the healthy QB1 in an NFL game must wait one more week. Watson is coming back from season-ending shoulder surgery and has looked good in training camp. He has played in only 12 games in his two seasons with the Browns. Vital to the Browns' success in 2024, Watson must stay healthy and play well for the entire season.
