The Cleveland Browns are off to a disastrous start to the 2024 season, as the team sits at 1-4 after five weeks and has lost three consecutive games.
The Browns' offense has been the main culprit for Cleveland's disheartening start. The unit is averaging just 15.8 points per game and has yet to score 20 points in a single contest.
Though quarterback Deshaun Watson deserves most of the blame for Cleveland's offensive blunders, the offensive line has taken a major step back compared to previous years.
The Browns' offensive line has surrendered 26 sacks through five contests, which leads the league. Watson definitely deserves some of the blame for that, but not all of it.
The team needs to acquire some help in the trenches, so CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin suggests Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Andre Dillard as a trade option for the Browns.
The Browns aren't really in a position to be buying this year, but if they're going to add anywhere, it'd better be up front, where Deshaun Watson has been bombarded with pressure all fall.
Cleveland desperately needs tackle depth behind Jedrick Wills Jr. and the returning Jack Conklin, but Andre Dillard is not the answer for their offensive line woes. The 2019 first-round pick has yet to play a snap in the 2024 campaign, but his play with the Tennessee Titans last season already tells the whole story.
Dillard started ten games for Tennessee last year and allowed a league-high 12 sacks along with 41 quarterback pressures, per Pro Football Focus. The former Eagle was benched multiple times in 2023 and was cut by the Titans during the 2024 offseason after just one season with the team.
Cleveland's offensive line is an issue general manager Andrew Barry must address if the team wants to revive the season, but acquiring Dillard would make the situation even worse.
