The Cleveland Browns went 11-6 in 2023 despite going through five different quarterbacks.
They’ll be getting Deshaun Watson back from injury, but does that help them, or actually make them worse? Watson hasn’t looked like the player the Browns paid for since 2020. And when there is that much time between excellence and mediocrity, maybe it’s time to accept that’s who he is.
CBS Sports NFL analyst Jared Dubin agrees, and labels Watson as the Browns’ biggest weakness.
“Deshaun Watson hasn't been good since 2020,” Dubin wrote. “It is wholly unreasonable to count on him being good this year. Can the Browns keep winning if he keeps disappointing?”
Watson is completing less than 60 percent of his passes since joining the Browns. The Browns are 8-4 in games Watson has started, but the decline is noticeable and could be what keeps the Browns from being real contenders in the AFC.
