The Cincinnati Bengals have begun cutting the roster as they work to get down to 53 players before the deadline Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

After wrapping up the preseason with a 27-14 loss against the Indianapolis Colts, they have a few extra days to cut the roster down. However, they started relatively early with several roster moves Friday afternoon.

Keep in mind the different verbiage when a player is let go as well. A released player is a vested veteran— those who have accrued four seasons in the NFL. They immediately become free agents.

waived player has not accrued four seasons and must go through waivers. All other teams will have a chance to claim waived players on their 53-man roster by 12:00 p.m. ET on Aug. 28. The Bengals are 18th in the waiver order.
