The Cincinnati Bengals made a notable addition to their practice squad on Thursday, signing running back Kendall Milton. The team announced the transaction on their official website.
Milton was a five-star recruit out of high school. Rivals rated him as the third-best running back in the 2020 recruiting class. He committed to Georgia, where he would go on to become a two-time National Champion.
In 2023, Milton was Georgia's leading rusher. He had 121 carries for 790 yards and 14 touchdowns. In addition, he earned Orange Bowl MVP honors, rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite his resume, Milton went undrafted in 2024. He signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He received $250,000 in guaranteed money, per KPRC's Aaron Wilson.
At the time, it made him the second-highest paid undrafted free agent of the class.
Over the preseason, he had 15 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Running back has become a big position of need for the Bengals. Chris Evans went down earlier this month with a season-ending injury, leaving little depth in the backfield.
The team has three running backs on their active roster: Zack Moss, Chase Brown, and Trayveon Williams. Williams was released yesterday, but re-signed Thursday after defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson was placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
Given the lack of depth and volatility of the position, it would not be surprising to see Milton promoted to the 53-man roster at some point this season.
