The 2024 National Football League regular season is just weeks away at this point.
The offseason felt excruciatingly long and training camp feels like it has been in session for months. Real football is just a few weeks away but each franchise will have to make some tough decisions before the season kicks off.
Each team is going to have to make cuts to the roster ahead of Week 1. The roster trimming also could mean that there could be a plethora of trades on the horizon. Teams already have started trading left and right and that likely won't slow down in the near future.
The Chicago Bears will be a team to watch out for in the coming weeks. The backup quarterback spot behind Caleb Williams has been talked about a lot. It seems like Tyson Bagent is the favorite to hold the job in 2024, but other teams could end up showing interest in pulling off a move for him.
The Athletic's Ted Nguyen even suggested that the Las Vegas Raiders should approach Chicago about a trade for Bagent and offer a fourth-round draft pick.
"Raiders should offer a fourth for Tyson Bagent because why not," Nguyen said.
If the Raiders were to call the Bears and offer a fourth-round pick for Bagent, that's a deal the Bears shouldn't refuse. There are some options available in free agency who could serve as the backup if the Bears were to trade Bagent away. Keep a close eye on him over the next few weeks.
