The 2024 National Football League season will be here before you know it.
Training camp is in full swing, the Chicago Bears already have begun their preseason schedule, and soon enough real games will be here. Chicago is a good spot. The Bears took a step forward last year and should be significantly better in 2024.
It doesn't hurt when you draft a young, phenom at quarterback in Caleb Williams. He is expected to be a star. That is a lot of pressure to put on someone, but many expect him to be great. His life will be a little easier because the Bears have put some great weapons around him. Chicago's receiving core is one of the best in football with D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and rookie Rome Odunze. The Bears also signed running back D'Andre Swift and have tight end Cole Kmet.
All in all, the Bears are in a great spot heading into the season. There have been question marks about the team's defense, though. Chicago has been busy adding to the team but some have wondered if the club could boost its defense a little more. The Bears reportedly are attempting to do so and are taking a chance on undrafted cornerback Ro Torrence, according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Patrick Finley.
"The Bears cut backup long snapper Cameron Lyons and signed DB Ro Torrence, a rookie," Finley said
Torrence spent time with the Seattle Seahawks after the draft but was waived in June. He played his college football with Auburn and Arizona State. It's too early to tell if he will be able to play a role with the Bears or even make the team, but it's clear that Chicago at least is looking for ways to continue adding.
