After finishing last in their division with a record of 7-10, the Chicago Bears are looking to make a massive shift this season, drafting and signing numerous talented players, including Caleb Williams, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, and D'Andre Swift.
Because general manager Ryan Poles has brought in so much talent, some players will likely be traded away to make room. Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report even mentioned backup quarterback Brett Rypien as a possible option to be moved.
"Chicago brought in Rypien to compete with Tyson Bagent for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Caleb Williams," Tansey said. "If Bagent beats out Rypien, the Bears could seek a late-round draft pick in exchange for Rypien if there are one or two dire quarterback situations across the league."
Rypien doesn't have the most amazing stats and he has only played in ten games over his four-year NFL career. However, being a backup with a bit of experience could be enough to entice another team to trade for him.
"He is obviously not the most attractive quarterback to trade for, but any experience is better than no experience. From the Bears' perspective, he would be one of the only tradable assets because they are building instead of shredding their roster."
The Bears have been busy so far this offseason and most of the recent chatter has been about the possibility of adding more players. While this is the case, subtractions could be on the way as well and Rypien wouldn't be the most surprising option to be moved.
