The Chicago Bears have a strong defense, but they don’t have an elite edge rusher outside of Montez Sweat.
This is something that Chicago would like to fix as soon as possible. If GM Ryan Poles can’t add another talented EDGE via trade this season, expect Poles to snag one in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In a brand new mock draft from Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer, Poles does just that by drafting a talented edge rusher out of Georgia, Mykel Williams.
“The Bears need a tough end for their 4-3 front to boost Montez Sweat, as DeMarcus Walker has been just OK in that role,” Iyer said.
“Williams also offers some good run-stopping strength for some inside-outside versatility.”
Williams is a six-foot-five, 265-pound stud originally from Columbus, Georgia. He was highly touted out of high school, being ranked as high as the No. 4 overall player in the nation by 247 Sports.
Williams won a national championship with Georgia in 2022.
The Bears did well for themselves in the first round of the 2024 draft, acquiring both Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze, both of whom have delivered on their talent thus far in their young careers.
