The Chicago Bears certainly have been busy since the 2023 season came to a close.
Chicago was in a plethora of rumors but ultimately selected young phenom Caleb Williams to take over the franchise's starting quarterback spot for the foreseeable future. The Bears are trying to set Williams up for success and have added players around him, including superstar receiver Keenan Allen and running back D'Andre Swift.
The Bears still have some cap space to work with, though, and should be looking for ways to bolster the defense. One player who still is out there and could make some sense for the Bears is former Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse.
He surprisingly is available still in free agency with training camp quickly approaching and spent the last three seasons with the Cowboys.
Kearse appeared in 16 games last season with Dallas and made 13 starts. Kearse recorded one interception, 1 1/2 sacks, and 72 total tackles while being an important part of the Cowboys' defense.
Chicago still has plenty of cap space available and certainly could afford a deal with Kearse. The Bears have had a successful offseason so far but the defense still could use a little more depth and Kearse could be someone to help with that issue.
Why not give him a chance? The Bears should be much better in 2024 and could get even better with a move involving Kearse.
