One of the best receivers in the National Football League has requested a trade, and the Chicago Bears might be interested.
Chicago is 2-2 on the season after a huge home victory over the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday. Caleb Williams and the Bears offense finally started clicking versus the Rams, but what if Chicago gave Williams one more amazing weapon?
With the Las Vegas Raiders’ 31-year-old stud wideout Davante Adams requesting a trade on Tuesday, the Bears could swoop in and make an offer for Adams.
Sports Illustrated’s Connor Orr certainly thinks such a deal is possible.
“Adams can serve as an aide for Odunze, though Keenan Allen is a great veteran presence,” Orr said. “And, he can really help slow the game down for Williams. Imagine having such a glut at the position that your four receivers on a given down could be Odunze, Allen, DJ Moore and Adams.”
“The Bears have yet to run a play out of 10- or 01-personnel (one running back, four wide receivers; or one tight end, four wide receivers) according to SumerSports’s personnel tracker, and only six teams have run either formation so far this year (none with a positive EPA per play). But it does keep your rotation fresh and give Williams the rangiest playmaker in the NFL save for Justin Jefferson.”
What would the Raiders want from the Bears in return for Adams?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed the package Las Vegas is looking for.
“Raiders have informed other teams that they would “consider” trading WR Davante Adams for a package that would include a second-round pick and additional compensation,” Schefter said.
Will Chicago make a play for Adams? The six-time Pro Bowl receiver has two years and over $70 million (non-guaranteed) left on his contract.
