The Chicago Bears have had a fantastic offseason so far and fans should be excited.
Chicago is in a great spot after significantly bolstering the offense this offseason but there still is more room for growth. The Bears have plenty of cap space left and was mentioned as one of the top landing spots for star tackle Connor Williams by Sportsnaut's Matt Johnson.
"Connor Williams remains one of the top NFL free agents right now because he suffered an ACL tear in Week 14 of last season," Johnson said. "Fortunately, he’s on the road to recovery and he’s tentatively expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season. Williams is a quality starter at center, with some positional versatility at guard. Above-average interior linemen typically aren’t available this late into the summer, so there should be a lot of competition for Williams who is only 27 years old. Connor Williams landing spots: Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys."
If Chicago could sign someone like Williams, it would go a long way in protecting young phenom Caleb Williams in 2024.
Williams still is available in free agency due to the injury he suffered, but he is considered the best remaining free agent by NFL Trade Rumors' Nate Bouda.
Chicago has a chance to get back to the postseason in 2024 and beefing up the offensive line only could help. At this point, they likely could get Williams at a discount and should consider a move quickly.
