The Carolina Panthers finished with the worst record in the NFL (2-15) for the third time in franchise history in 2023, but they do not own a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Panthers sent their 2024 first-rounder to Chicago last offseason as part of the trade that landed them last year's No. 1 overall pick — which ended up being quarterback Bryce Young. Now the Bears own the top selection this year, and Carolina will now try to start their turnaround by making seven picks across Rounds 2-7.
Carolina picked up a second- and fifth-rounder from the Giants last month by trading edge-rusher Brian Burns. The Panthers have four picks in the top 101, but don't be surprised if they trade up or down to target a particular player or accrue extra selections.
The Sporting News is tracking the Panthers' 2024 NFL draft selections, from the second round — barring a trade — to the seventh. Follow along with the picks below.

Panthers NFL Draft needs
- Wide receiver: Carolina have already made steps to improve their wide receiver room by trading for Diontae Johnson, but they could use another pass-catcher to pair with him, veteran Adam Thielen and 2023 second-round pick Jonathan Mingo. Filling new head coach Dave Canales' offense with weapons should be a priority for the Panthers, who are hoping to see a turnaround from Bryce Young in his second season. Carolina only had one player (Thielen) finish 2023 with more than 600 receiving yards.
- Edge rusher: Trading Brian Burns to the Giants opened up a pretty big hole at edge for the Panthers. Carolina signed Jadaveon Clowney to a two-year deal earlier this offseason and also added K'Lavon Chaisson and D.J. Wonnum in free agency, but they could use another dynamic pass-rusher to give them some depth at the position. Even with Burns, Carolina finished last season ranked last in the league with 27 sacks.
- Defensive back: As part of the trade to bring Johnson in from Pittsburgh, Carolina sent the Steelers starting corner Donte Jackson. The Panthers signed Dane Jackson in free agency and re-signed Troy Hill, but 2023 starters Jeremy Chinn and C.J. Henderson left to join other teams. Don't be surprised if Carolina use multiple picks on corner in the 2024 draft, especially if they can find a player like Jackson with solid size and elite speed.
