The Buffalo Bills will play their second preseason game Saturday night in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. After an embarrassing display against the Chicago Bears to begin exhibition play, the Bills have a handful of players who really need to have strong performances and these are the three biggest names on the list.
QB Mitch Trubisky
Both Bills’ quarterbacks played abysmally against the Bears. Trubisky and Shane Buechele combined to go 16-of-28 for 135 yards and an interception, and the offense lacked any sort of explosiveness. With Buechele out due to a neck injury, Trubisky is likely to see more time against his former team on Saturday. There are several quarterbacks around the league that are capable backups and showing up in preseason play. If Trubisky doesn't play well the Bills may look to move on from him.
The entire offensive line
Buffalo’s offensive line was dreadful against Chicago. They allowed eight sacks and the ground game only picked up 36 yards on less than two yards per carry. Alec Anderson, Ryan Van Demark, Kevin Jarvis - all need to have big games and look much better than they did a week ago.
WR KJ Hamler
The former second-round pick of the Denver Broncos muffed a kick return against Chicago. Although he was listed as the starting kick and punt returner on the initial depth chart, that could very easily change if he can’t hold onto the ball. With Andy Isabella and cornerback Daequan Hardy emerging as potential starters for the return specialist job, Hamler will need to shine to show he deserves to keep it.
