You'd be forgiven for not knowing the Buffalo Bills added several players on the defensive side of the ball in the 2024 NFL Draft. After an offseason full of several offensive changes, those moves flew under the radar, and have remained there throughout training camp.
However, one defensive rookie that has flashed is rookie defensive tackle DeWayne Carter. The Bills drafted the Duke product in the third round of the draft, and head coach Sean McDermott has been impressed with him thus far.
“I feel like the light has started to come on with him,” McDermott said. “He’s going to play a pivotal role in that third, fourth defensive tackle spot for us, ideally. And so with that comes a lot of development that still needs to happen, but I’ve been impressed with some of his flashes of late.”
Carter is second on the depth chart at defensive tackle for the Bills behind Ed Oliver, and is expected to be someone who contributes and is an impact player in his rookie campaign.
