The Buffalo Bills may have traded away wide receiver Stefon Diggs, but they aren't done adding to the roster. They had agreed to a contract with offensive tackle La'el Collins on Thursday afternoon and the contract details have been revealed.
La'el Collins gets sizable contract with Buffalo Bills
Collins got significantly more than the league minimum, according to Bleacher Reports Jordan Schultz. Collins agreed to a deal worth up to $6.25 million. This is a similar value deal to what he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals before the 2022 season. That contract was for three years, $21 million, a shade higher than the contract he agreed upon with the Bills.
Collins is a high-upside play for Buffalo. He played and started 15 games for the Bengals in 2022 but didn't play in a single game in 2023 and spent the season on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. He will provide insurance for right tackle Spencer Brown who has seen his fair share of struggles since being drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft.
Will this end up working for Buffalo? That is up for debate. However, Collins did have at least one other suitor but chose the Bills.
