Josh Allen had arguably the best game of any quarterback from Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. The Buffalo Bills' signal-caller went 18-of-23 for 232 yards and two scores, while adding 39 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Despite his tremendous performance, former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel came away from the game worried about Allen and how he played.
"The only thing I'm a little worried about is you got the full Josh Allen experience," Daniel said on FS1's The Facility. "He had a fumble, which was his 76th turnover since 2020 - easily the most in the NFL. 15 more than Derek Carr."
Audible sigh. Yes, the ole' reliable "but but but... the turnovers" argument aimed at Josh Allen. Yes, Allen fumbled in the first quarter. And yes, Allen does have the most turnovers in that span. But he also has the most touchdowns in that span. And the Bills have also won the second-most games in the NFL in that span.
And since Daniel brought up Derek Carr, Allen has 73 more touchdowns than Carr since 2020. These two guys are nowhere near equals.
The turnover argument is so lazy, and it's overdone because there is nothing else people can point to in terms of shortcomings with Allen. He is the second-best quarterback in football, and it isn't particularly close.
