The Buffalo Bills surprised many when they released preseason superstar Frank Gore Jr. Now, he's back with the franchise thanks to a contract to join the practice squad.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported the transaction on Wednesday.
Gore was an honorable mention in Sporting News' NFL All-Preseason team, and rightfully so. The undrafted rookie displayed outstanding consistency during his final preseason game, tallying 101 yards and a touchdown on just 18 carries.
He looked a lot like his legendary dad, Frank Gore, on a few runs, too.

All told, Gore Jr. finished with 163 yards and a touchdown on the ground during the three preseason games. He also caught four passes for 16 yards out of the backfield.
Despite his lineage, Gore Jr. wasn't highly pursued coming out of high school. He spent four seasons at Southern Mississippi, where he combined for 4,856 yards and 30 touchdowns on 834 touches. His body of work didn't lead to being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, however, thanks to a lackluster physical profile.
For now, Gore Jr. will bide his time and help the team prepare for their opponents on a weekly basis as a member of the practice squad. Should injuries take their toll on the Bills' running back room, he will have a chance to prove he's worth a spot on the 53-man roster.
