Despite winning two MVPs, Lamar Jackson isn't one of the NFL's top-five quarterbacks to Fox Sports' Nick Wright.
On Wright's podcast, "What's Wright? With Nick Wright," Wright ranked his top five quarterbacks in the NFL, confidently naming Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, C.J. Stroud, and then tossing it up between Matthew Stafford and Caleb Williams for his fifth and final spot.
Wright acknowledged that some people will think he was "disrespectful" to Jackson, but he said he was "just being honest."
Later, when asked how Jackson could make the top five, Wright ripped Jackson's playoff performances and said the Baltimore Ravens QB needs to be better in the postseason.
"I don't know — not every single year have the worst game of his season in the playoffs," Wright said.
"Every year of his career, he has had his worst game of the season in the playoffs. Every single year of his career. Sorry. I mean, score more than 10 points in a home conference championship game."
Wright said that he likes Jackson and roots for him, but:
"If I'm being honest, do I think he's one of the five best quarterbacks in football? I don't."
Wright isn't wrong that Jackson's postseason performances haven't been inspiring. Over six playoff games, Jackson has thrown for 1,324 yards, 6 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and a 57% completing rate, with a 75.7 passer rating.
Of course, those stats include a rough postseason loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Jackson's rookie year. Jackson's numbers were better in last year's playoffs, though the Ravens' offense was famously stifled in the AFC Championship loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, which Wright referenced.
The Ravens will enter the 2024 season as Super Bowl contenders once again. The NFL world will undoubtedly be watching to see if Jackson can take his game to another level in a big spot.
