I hate ‘em the worst and it ain’t close boss.

In the words of Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl Strong Safety Justin Simmons: “We can’t leave that stadium without a win.”

Quick hitters for this week’s Reasons for Optimism against the team from Louisiana.

Falcons have had THE toughest opening schedule in the NFL. Carr’s Crew?

Go ahead and check the difference in Strength of Schedule between Atlanta and New Orleans. Further scrutiny: this Saints team lost 15-12 to the Philadelphia Eagles at home a week after the Falcons beat the Birds in Philly. The Saints scored 91 points in their first two games (Carolina & Dallas) only to be held to 12 last week vs. a stout Philadelphia defense.

Dallas Scoring Defense: 24th in the NFL

Carolina Scoring Defense: Last in the NFL

Philadelphia Scoring Defense: 17th in the NFL

Atlanta’s Scoring Defense? 13th in the NFL.

Injury Report at Time of Publishing

  • LB Demario Davis (hamstring) OUT
  • RB Alvin Kamara (hip/ribs) questionable
  • C Erik McCoy (groin) OUT
  • WR A.T. Perry (hamstring) questionable
  • RG Cesar Ruiz (knee) OUT
  • WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. (ankle) questionable
  • WR Chris Olave Game time decision (Hamstring)

Saints mega-vet Pro Bowl LB Demario Davis missing his first game in 13 years? We at Sporting News never wish for injuries, but come on, that’s a hell of a break for the Falcons. Two starting offensive linemen and a banged up WR1 in Chris Olave has the Saints hobbling into Mercedes-Benz. With limited weapons versus his extended healthy arsenal, so much more falls on QB Derek Carr’s hands.

Forget his hands. Put him on his head.
