ESPN’s Field Yates reports that the Atlanta Falcons have picked up Kyle Pitts’ fifth-year option. Despite his talent, Pitts’ career has been defined mostly by his usage in the offense, more specifically, his lack of targets.

His 1,000-yard, Pro Bowl rookie year was supposed to be a sign of vindication for a questionable decision to make Pitts the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history. Now, in the midst of yet another questionable draft decision in the top ten, they decided to lock down the versatile weapon to be a focal point of new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson’s offense.

Pitts has been gradually returning from a knee injury that ended his 2022 season and impacted his abilities in 2023. Now, with the injury in the rearview and a new offensive philosophy to learn, Atlanta has locked down their number-one weapon at least through 2025.
