Falcons draft picks 2024: When does Atlanta pick? Full list of NFL Draft selections image

Welcome to the first glimpse into the Raheem Morris era of the Atlanta Falcons at the 2024 NFL Draft.

This off-season, we saw the Falcons overhaul their entire philosophy on the offensive side of the football. Atlanta went away from the more physical mindset of former head coach Arthur Smith, focusing on adding speed on the outside with the acquisitions of receivers Darnell Mooney, Ray-Ray McCloud and Rondale Moore.

This will be the third year in a row that Atlanta is picking at pick eight and the fourth that they are picking in the top ten. With the focus shifting to the defense recently, Atlanta at eight is all but guaranteed to be the first spot for a defensive player…or another candidate for a trade-down.

With the tampering investigation not affecting this season’s NFL Draft, the Falcons will have all eight picks for the 2024 draft. With the extra third-rounder from Jacksonville, Atlanta will have three picks in the top 100 of a draft filled with talent at various positions.

The Sporting News tracks the Falcons’ 2024 NFL Draft selections, from round one to seven. Follow along with the picks below.

Falcons Draft Needs

  • Edge Rusher: The NFL’s worst-kept secret is the NFL and their inability to get to the quarterback. Atlanta has not had a premier pass rusher since John Abraham left the team in 2012. There was a sliver of help from 2015 first-round pick Vic Beasley, but he could not mimic the results of his 15.5-sack sophomore season that made him an All-Pro. Atlanta remains on the hunt for their consistent pass-rusher.
  • Cornerback: Atlanta has one starting outside corner they can rely on in A.J. Terrell. Outside of him, the Falcons have sophomore Clark Phillips, who could be finding himself in the slot in this new scheme and new acquisitions Antonio Hamilton, Sr. from Arizona and Kevin King from Green Bay, who are obvious depth signings. There is still a glaring need at starting corner opposite of Terrell.
  • Wide Receiver: When a team spends their last three first-round picks on offensive playmakers, needing a wide receiver may seem impossible, but these Falcons find a way. They have overhauled the position and made it look much closer to what a McVay/Shanahan-like wide receiver room could look like. Atlanta could still use a receiver with a mix of size, vertical field-stretching ability and ability to win one-on-one on the outside. Luckily for Atlanta, this draft is filled with guys specializing in these traits (and a few at the top that have all three, if they’re so inclined).
