Jerry Jones: 'I am not giving up on Randy Gregory' image

Even with Cowboys defensive lineman Randy Gregory reportedly facing a one-year drug-related suspension, team owner Jerry Jones is sticking by his player.

"I am not giving up on Randy Gregory for the Cowboys and certainly not giving up on him as a person in life — at all," Jones told reporters Sunday (via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram). "Not that it makes any difference that I do, but I do not dismiss him from our future.”

Gregory, 23, hasn't played this season because of four- and 10-game drug suspensions, the latter of which was to end after Week 15. But NFL Media reported Friday that Gregory is appealing what would be at least a one-year suspension for another violation.

“I, of course, know the details of his situation, and I can’t and I won’t comment on details about it,” Jones said.

Gregory, who did a stint in rehab earlier this year, continues to get treatment for the drug issues that led him to slide to the Cowboys in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in 12 games a rookie but didn't have a sack.
