After an embarrassing offensive performance against Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Ohio State has named Ryan Day as its next quarterbacks coach.
Day was quarterbacks coach under Chip Kelly the past two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. He replaces Tim Beck, who reportedly will join Tom Herman's staff at Texas as offensive coordinator.
Day spent time with Temple, Boston College and the University of New Hampshire before heading to the NFL. He has 15 seasons of coaching experience overall, including a stint as a graduate assistant with Urban Meyer at Florida in 2005.

Ohio State generated just 215 yards of total offense against Clemson in a 31-0 loss Saturday. Star quarterback J.T. Barrett completed just 19 of 33 passes for 127 yards with two interceptions. Day will be tasked with making sure performances like that don't occur again.
Day worked with Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert in 2016 with the 49ers and he helped Sam Bradford to a record-setting 2015 season with the Eagles as he completed 65 percent of his passes — an Eagles single-season record — and threw for 3,725 yards.
