The SEC is facing a new era in 2024, and Randall Cobb is the perfect analyst to help break things down.
Although he isn't formally retiring from the NFL, Cobb is joining the SEC Network as a college football studio analyst. The ESPN PR X account announced the move on Thursday.

“I am incredibly excited to be coming home to the SEC with this new role,” Cobb said in a statement. “The level of greatness this conference provides year after year is unmatched – I cannot wait return to the conference family with this SEC Network crew.”
Cobb is a home-run hire for ESPN. A 13-year NFL veteran with the Green Bay Packers and other teams, he brings a unique perspective as a former player for the Kentucky Wildcats.
In fact, Cobb brings perspective from multiple college positions as both a quarterback and wide receiver at Kentucky. He started his career with the Wildcats as a quarterback before switching over to wide receiver. The move panned out for him, as he earned back-to-back first-team All-SEC selections along with first-team All-American honors. Over his final two seasons, he had 2,461 scrimmage yards and 26 total touchdowns.
Cobb went on to be a second-round pick by the Packers. He played in the NFL for 13 seasons, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2014.
Kentucky isn't exactly a college football powerhouse. That being said, Cobb had the opportunity to play in some of the wildest environments in the SEC, and should be able to talk about some of his experiences playing in the conference.
