Recruiting never seems to be an issue for the LSU Tigers. Schools in the state of Texas aren't too thrilled with that right about now.
On3's Hayes Fawcett revealed that 4-star defensive lineman Zion Williams was heading to LSU. The recruit out of Lufkin, Texas chose the Tigers over in-state programs like the Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, and TCU Horned Frogs.

Williams had other offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, USC Trojans, and several other top-tier programs. Coming in at nearly 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds, Williams was a borderline top-50 player in the state of Texas for the class of 2025.
The Tigers are quickly building out one of the best recruiting classes in the country. On3 has LSU with the fifth-best recruiting class in the country, behind only Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC.
LSU's recruiting class is headlined by the top running back in the country in Harlem Berry, as well as 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. The 6-foot-4 QB out of Belleville, Michigan is widely considered the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2025.
"Ahead of his years physically and looks like he could be a senior or college player already. Has a strong arm with the ability to make throws to any part of the field," Allen Trieu with 247Sports wrote about Underwood. "Currently shows no glaring weaknesses, just needs to continue to progress in terms of learning defenses and going through progressions, but shows high-end physical tools as well as intangibles."
Texas programs typically are able retain a lot of their in-state talent. However, LSU head coach Brian Kelly is starting to pull away some key players like Williams to bolster his own recruiting classes.
