The transfer portal era has given college football players opportunities to find new homes, but that comes with a cost when it comes to relationships with former teammates.
Just ask Jayden Daniels, who transferred from the Arizona State Sun Devils to the LSU Tigers before eventually becoming a Heisman Trophy winner. His former teammates were seen trashing his locker following his decision while talking poorly about him.
Now, Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver Juice Wells is dealing with something similar. After two years at James Madison, Wells transferred to the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he played for two seasons and earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2022. Now, Wells is staying in the SEC with Ole Miss, transferring for the second time in his college career.
At least one former Gamecocks teammate has taken to social media to call out Wells for the decision to transfer to a conference rival. Safety Nick Emmanwori took to Instagram to post a photo of his former teammate, calling him "Judas Wells" in a caption.
Mike Uva with Gamecock Central posted a screenshot of the Instagram post via X.

A foot injury sidelined Wells for the majority of the 2023 season, but he was a breakout star at South Carolina in 2022. He finished that season with 68 catches for 928 yards and seven total touchdowns.
Assuming that he's healthy, Wells will have a chance to improve on those numbers in Lane Kiffin's fast-paced offense. He'll have a start quarterback in Jaxson Dart throwing him the ball, while defenses will also be forced to respect another dominant receiver in Tre Harris.
With so much offensive firepower, Wells could be in line for a dominant 2024 season.
