West Virginia’s leading rusher from last season will redshirt in 2013, Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen said.
Andrew Buie, who led West Virginia with 851 yards on 179 carries with seven touchdowns as well as 28 receptions for 318 receiving yards, will sit out this season.
Holgorsen told West Virginia Illustrated that Bueie had failed to get himself "mentally and physically" ready for the season.

"He had some decisions," Holgorsen told West Virginia Illustrated. "Some of these are decisions that he makes as well. Did we force him to? No. I'm looking forward to talking about Charles Sims, Dustin Garrison, Dreamius Smith and Wendell Smallwood."
Garrison is the only one of the four backs Holgorsen mentioned who had carries for the Mountaineers last season. The junior gained 207 yards on 46 carries (4.5 yards per carry) and scored twice.
Sims transferred from Houston for his final season. He gained 851 yards and scored 11 TDs as a junior last season and earned second-team All-Conference USA. He was the conference's freshman of the year in 2009 and was a first-team selection in 2011.
Smith played at Butler Community College last season and gained 984 yards on 120 carries with 17 touchdowns. Smallwood is a true freshman.
