The Virginia Tech Hokies will look for their first win of the season this weekend when they face the Marshall Thundering Herd at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg.
The Hokies lost a heartbreaker to Vanderbilt last weekend, falling 34-27 in overtime. They trailed 17-0 in the first half and 20-10 in the third frame, but came back to take a 27-20 lead with a little over four minutes remaining in regulation. But Vandy stormed back, tying the game and forcing OT where they proceeded to win it with a triumphant TD.
Things started better for Marshall last weekend. The Thundering Herd destroyed Stony Brook, 45-3, winning the yardage battle over the Seawolves by a staggering margin of 549-252. Marshall went 5-of-11 on third down while forcing Stony Brook to punt the ball a whopping nine times throughout the contest.
This weekend will be a much tougher test for Marshall, and perhaps an easier challenge for Virginia Tech. It should be a great game, one that many college football fans likely have circled on their Saturday afternoon viewing priority list.
